Mayfair institution Scott’s will open in Riyadh on 15 July
The elegant seafood restaurant debuts in the Saudi capital this month.
Celebrity haunt Scott’s has quite the backstory. Amongst the five oldest restaurants in London, it was originally opened as an oyster warehouse in 1851 by a young fishmonger named John Scott, and rapidly evolved into the now-famous seafood restaurant and oyster bar. By the time Scott’s moved to its current Mayfair location in 1968, it was one of the most glamorous seafood restaurants in town, frequented by the city’s film stars, politicians and writers through the decades.
In 2005, British business tycoon Richard Caring acquired Caprice Holdings and purchased Scott’s, relaunching the restaurant the following year after an extensive refurbishment by Martin Brudnizki, which brought a feel of timeless Art Deco glamour to the venue. Now, it’s gearing up to add to its long and proud history by opening an outpost in Via Riyadh, courtesy of luxury and lifestyle hospitality holding, Cool Inc. Bringing diners in the Saudi capital a premium, seafood-centric culinary experience, Scott’s Riyadh will open its doors on 15 July.
“We are very excited to introduce Scott’s in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and bring guests in Riyadh our decadent menu of seafood and fish, along with the exceptional service Scott’s is renowned for,” says Richard Caring, restaurateur and owner of Caprice Holdings. “Just like the celebrated original restaurant in Mayfair, London, Scott’s Riyadh promises to serve the very finest fare in an atmosphere of urbane sophistication.”
The critically acclaimed restaurant’s menu reflects its glittering heritage, offering the finest traditional fish and seafood dishes alongside a variety of meat and seasonal game favourites. Oysters, served at Scott’s oyster bar, are a house speciality. Scott’s Riyadh outpost will pay homage to the Mayfair flagship restaurant’s aesthetic, a sophisticated yet warm 1940s elegance. The timber-panelled dining room with burgundy leather banquettes and dining chairs create an impressive atmosphere, featuring silver leaf-mirrored screens, a marble top with a stingray-fronted bar, and walls adorned with artwork from some of today’s most celebrated British artists.
