New restaurant Thaiya in Riyadh recreates Thai classics

Dishes range from Chicken Penang Curry to Tom Yum Seafood Soup.

Riyadh is home to a range of restaurants, from celebrity chefs to homegrown concepts. Now, it is set to welcome the new Thai restaurant. Located on Tahliah Street, Thaiya in Riyadh it is currently in the soft opening phase, and here’s what to expect.  

Thaiya in Riyadh boasts a modern aesthetic with funky touches. On arrival, there is a fun neon sign that reads: “With grace and haste, Thaiya”. The brightly lit sign comes in blue, green and pink, and resembles a plant. Plus, there are two tall potted plants in the window, which frame the entrance.

The space includes natural tones with dark browns and wooden materials. A shelf divides the room and includes vases and potted plants. The blue walls come with brown shutters and are brightened up with colourful paintings, which show scenes from Thailand. Look out for the images of lush landscapes and women cooking.

Guests can choose from tables for two to long banquettes, which include black tables and brown sofas and chairs. Sit under the old-school chandelier hanging from the ceiling or by the floor-to-ceiling windows, which offer a view out onto Prince Muhammad Ibn Abd Al Aziz Street.

Thaiya’s menu includes Thai classics that are superb for sharing. Starters include Chicken with Thai basil, coriander, and peanuts on crispy sushi rice and the Tom Yum Seafood Soup, which comes in a creamier concoction. Dishes also include Beef Tenderloin Pad Thai and Chicken Penang Curry.

Thaiya is open from Monday to Saturday from 5.30pm to midnight.
