Rapper turned restaurateur Mutah Beale brings smash burgers to Riyadh

The casual concept brings bountiful burgers to the capital.

The name Mutah Beale may be familiar to fans of hip-hop. As one of the founding members of the Tupac-led rap group Outlawz, Mutah Beale gave up the rap game in favour of Riyadh and has since launched a burgeoning restaurant empire. Located in Al Olaya, the rapper turned restaurateur’s latest concept is OKLA. This smash burger joint specialises in a handful of perfectly prepared menu items. The restaurant’s catchy taglines include “double the delight, double the bite” and “a burger for the body is not enough. There must be a burger for the soul.” 

The menu at OKLA features the Oklahoma onion-smashed burger with American cheese and special sauce or the Classic burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mustard, and ketchup. Burgers are served with either regular or Cajun fries and can be topped with a generous pouring of special sauce or cheese.

Mutah’s story is one of remarkable resilience. Having overcome a traumatic childhood that included witnessing the murder of his parents at a young age, he found solace and purpose in music, becoming a successful rapper with Tupac’s iconic group, the Outlawz. The group featured on Tupac’s albums Still I Rise and Makeveli. In 2000, they released their first album, Ride Wit Us Or Collide Wit Us. In 2006, he released his solo project, Loyalty Over Money. However, his path took a further transformative turn as he embraced Islam and embarked on a new chapter of self-discovery in the Middle East.

OKLA isn’t the only new concept from Mutah Beale coming to the capital. A new Nashville chicken joint known as Sonny’s is set to open its doors soon, promising to serve Riyadh residents with the same quality and innovation as OKLA and Q On Da Go. Mutah Beale is also behind the casual concepts Q On Da Go and the FACT Award winner Smokey Beards Q, which has drawn a celebrity clientele ranging from Mike Tyson and Oleksandr Usyk to Kanye West.

Mutah Beale is not the only rapper to open a restaurant in the Kingdom. Drake-backed Dave’s Hot Chicken recently launched in Riyadh, bringing seven spice levels of chicken tenders to the Thalia neighbourhood.
