The fine-dining French restaurant oozes old-world glamour.

Situated in the heart of the Saudi capital, Mansard Riyadh, A Radisson Collection Hotel draws inspiration from French architecture. It is recognised as the premier new luxury hotel in Saudi Arabia. It offers Parisian-inspired Boulevards, a L’Occitane Spa, chic accommodations and European restaurants ranging from the Italian brand Carbone to the sophisticated L’Ami Dave.

L’ami Dave has added some chic to Saudi Arabia. The French fine-dining restaurant pays homage to 19th-century Paris and was created in partnership with New York’s Major Food Group. Ken Fulk, who has worked with A-listers from Gigi Hadid to Pharrell Williams, is behind the design, which features distressed mirrors and gold accents. Soaring ceilings adorned with intricate mouldings create a sense of awe, while plush textures and a collection of unique vintage pieces whisper stories of a bygone era. The setting oozes old-school charm – we’re talking Art Deco touches, white tablecloths, and vintage pieces. Oh, and waiters in white dinner jackets.

L'Ami Dave

These elegantly attired waitstaff guide guests through a menu that celebrates the finest raw ingredients, premium charcoal-grilled beef, and classic French delicacies, such as escargots and foie gras. Much like the décor, the menu is a love letter to French culinary tradition and was conceived by Jeff Zalaznick, Mario Carbone, and Rich Torrisi. Prioritising the use of high-quality ingredients, L’Ami Dave’s offerings are a celebration of updated French classics.

For the adventurous palate, the signature starters are a must-try. Indulge in Escargot De Bourgogne (SAR 125) served with garlic butter, parsley, and lemon. Releasing the gastropods from their shells can be a little tricky, but it’s oh-so worth it. The Carpaccio De Boeuf (SAR 145) is another disarming dish, offering thinly sliced beef topped with aromatic black truffle and a textural touch from crushed hazelnuts. The Prawns Provençale (SAR 140) provide an alternative take on a dish that has become a firm favourite at LPM Restaurant & Cafe. Here, the prawns are bigger, resulting in a plump and juicy protein served swimming in green olive friscaseé.

The choices for the main course are equally tempting. The timeless Steak Frites, a perfectly cooked cut of beef accompanied by crispy, golden fries and a decadent, butter-heavy sauce (SAR 350), is a sure-fire crowd-pleaser. For those seeking a more decadent experience, the Roasted Veal Chop (SAR 325) or Seared Sea Bream (SAR 235) are worthy choices.

To complete the culinary experience, L’ami Dave’s desserts feature a selection of made-to-order soufflés and fancy French classics. We devour the Ananas Tarte Tatin, a caramelised sugary sweet treat while overlooking Mansard Riyadh’s stunning plaza.

L'Ami Dave

L’ami Dave’s drinks have been created with finesse, and cover juice-based mocktails. The highlights include Déjà Vu with watermelon and bitter orange; Grapefruit Aperitif, a sparkling beverage with tarragon and lemon; and Parisian Lemonade with juniper, citrus fruits and cucumber.

While the price point reflects the luxurious experience, L’Ami Dave offers value for those seeking an authentic taste of Parisian fine dining. The service is as impeccable as the setting. The attentive staff, knowledgeable about both the menu and the restaurant’s history, ensures a seamless and enjoyable dining experience.
