Taleed brings Michael Mina’s culinary magic to Riyadh
The upcoming restaurant will focus on Hejazi cuisine.
Riyadh has been upping its culinary game when it comes to restaurant openings. A plethora of celebrity chefs and international brands have set up shop in the capital, including Akira Back Riyadh, Cafe Boulud, and SUSHISAMBA Riyadh. And now, we’re about to witness the arrival of yet another culinary maestro as Chef Michael Mina makes his debut in the Kingdom with Taleed by Michael Mina.
Located in Riyadh’s Diriyah district, Taleed by Michael Mina will find a permanent address at the upcoming Bab Samhan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Diriyah. This restaurant promises to celebrate Middle Eastern flavours with a focus on Hejazi cuisine. Expect to see the likes of Sayadiah, a beloved saltwater-baked fish, Saleeg, featuring rice and slow-cooked meats, and many more reimagined with a modern twist.
For those unfamiliar with Michael Mina, the chef hails from Egypt before moving to the US as a teenager, where he quickly transitioned into a kitchen king. In 1987, he opened his first restaurant, Aqua, in San Francisco. Currently, he helms several restaurants across America, such as Bourbon Steak and Stripsteak.
While Taleed by Michael Mina marks the chef’s first restaurant in Saudi Arabia, it’s not his first foray into the Middle East. He made his international debut with MINA Brasserie, located at the Four Seasons Hotel Dubai International Financial Centre. He also catered to dignitaries in Diriyah earlier this year during the announcement of Riyadh as the host city for Expo 2030. With his upcoming outpost in Riyadh, he adds yet another feather to his cap.
Details of when Taleed by Michael Mina will open at Bab Samhan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Diriyah are currently under wraps, but stay tuned at FACT for all the details.
