The Rustic Bakery prides itself on bringing international pastries to the local market. At the heart of the menu is sourdough, which has been created by Executive Chef, Francesco Luigi Carusi. The team pride themselves on creating the first sourdough specialised bakery in the Kingdom. The sourdough has been fermented in-house, and healthier versions of the bread are available.
Founder and CEO Younis Altewejri hails from Rafha, Saudi Arabia. He grew up kneading dough with his mother. After travelling through Europe, he gained a love of sourdough and different types of bread. He prides himself on sourcing the perfect grains, slow fermentation process and creating freshly baked breads.
The Rustic Bakery’s menu includes bread, cakes, cookies, croissants, desserts, pastries, sourdoughs, and tarts. Sourdough options include Rustic Sourdough, Seeds Sourdough, and Walnut Sourdough. Croissants range from Croissant Parigino to Croissant Pistashio. Sandwiches range from Focaccia Chicken Guacamole Sandwich to Focaccia Toscana Sandwich. Pastries include Cannonico Chocolate, Millefeuille Tiramisu, and Sfogliatella Classic.
The Rustic Bakery boasts a contemporary, clean design. Its exterior includes white walls with golden logos and wooden features. Inside, the space feels like you are stepping into an old-school European kitchen, and the shelves include chopping boards, rolling pins, and jars with grains. The charming décor includes potted plants, old-school wooden cupboards, tables, and seats.
