Located at InterContinental Durrat Al Riyadh Resort & Spa, HARNN Heritage Spa is rooted in ancient healing practices perfected over thousands of years.
With a price tag of SAR 45 million, an ambitious refurbishment has resulted in InterContinental’s first resort in the Saudi capital of Riyadh. Today, all eyes are on InterContinental Durrat Al Riyadh Resort and Spa as it recently unveiled an entirely new look spearheaded by interior design studio, Kristina Zanic Consultants. But it’s not just new guestrooms, dining venues, and public spaces to discover — the resort is also the first to bring HARNN Heritage Spa to the Middle East.
Following the formal restoration of diplomatic ties between Thailand and Saudi Arabia, premium wellness brand HARNN has designed the Thai-inspired wellness destination to serve as a temporary escape from the flurry of urban living through a world-class service journey performed by skilful therapists from Thailand.
Divided into two storeys with a series of double-height atrium spaces, the spa features 15 treatment rooms in total. Collectively, they comprise luxurious suites with a dedicated sauna, steam and jacuzzi, and generous standard rooms with further reflexology and hammam rooms. The ground floor provides a unique two-storey top-lit’ forest’ garden around which a retail gallery, salon, gym, wellness bar and pool await. The spa is designed as an evolving journey through a series of differing settings, offering a variety of places to enjoy wellness experiences.
Home to ancient healing practices that have been perfected over thousands of years, the spa is rooted in comprehensive wellness traditions that are specially designed to enhance the harmony between the five senses for a balanced body and mind. It draws inspiration from the prestigious locale and finest botanicals, meticulously incorporating indigenous natural elements (hot sand, purified essential oil, and oriental herbs included) to craft signature experiences that can’t be found anywhere else.
The Journey of Arabian Heritage, for example, starts with a purifying hammam ritual by a gentle exfoliation with HARNN signature rice bran oil soap, while the UNESCO-recognised cultural heritage Nuad Thai Massage is complemented by a warmed sand compress with healing essential oils. Additionally, the Ancient Asian Five Elements Philosophy is masterfully applied to the art of aromatherapy healing in order to achieve physical and spiritual harmony. Guests will discover their dominant element – fire, earth, water, metal or wood – and the appropriate essential oil blend to help rebalance said element before each treatment.
Wellness seekers are also invited to embark on wellness retreats that are personalised to their health and lifestyle goals by way of holistic spa treatments, pedicure and manicure services, healthy food and beverages, access to wellness facilities, and a wide range of self-care items. Incidentally, HARNN Heritage Spa has been delivering an exceptional spa experience around the globe while incorporating Asian wisdom to elevate the quality of both products and services over 20 years of success with its grandest accolades as World’s Best Resort Spa at the World Spa Awards in 2019.
