Let’s get ready to rumble, Saudi. The Professional Fighters League and Riyadh Season have announced the first mega MMA event of the year, PFL Champions vs. Bellator Champions. Taking place on 24 February, here are the fights that you need to know.
If you want to join the fun, the PFL Champions vs. Bellator Champions weigh-ins will take place at The Kingdom Arena on the 23 February. The matches include a fight between PFL Heavyweight Champion, Renan Ferreira, and Bellator Heavyweight Champion, Ryan Bader. PFL Light Heavyweight Champion, Impa Kasanganay, will also fight Bellator Middleweight Champion, Johnny Eblen. The two-time PFL Champion, Ray Cooper III, will face Bellator Welterweight Champion, Jason Jackson. In the featherweight fights, PFL Champion Jesus Pinedo will face Bellator Champion Patricio Pitbull.
It’s not just about male fighters, as the first female MMA fight will also take place in Riyadh. Two-time Olympic gold medallist and women’s boxing champion, Claressa Shields, takes on Kelsey DeSantis. Other notable fighters include Muhammad Ali’s grandson, Biaggio Ali Walsh. Biaggio lives in Las Vegas, and his mother is Raheda Ali Walsh. He has previously fought in mixed martial arts, and later moved to boxing.
Saudi Arabia is no stranger to hosting world-class sporting events. The country holds the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, and King Abdullah Sports City Arena has hosted sporting events across football, WWE and boxing.
