This event marks another exciting addition to Saudi Arabia’s sports landscape.
The sports scene in Saudi Arabia is unstoppable. From hosting some of the biggest games to the announcement of hosting the inaugural Olympics Esports Games, the Kingdom is pulling out all the stops. And now it will host the CAF Super Cup Final 2024.
Taking place on Friday, 27 September — just days after the Saudi National Day celebrations — the CAF Super Cup Final 2024 will be held in the Saudi capital as part of Riyadh Season. The announcement was made by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe and Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, His Excellency Turki bin Abdulmohsen Alalshikh, promising to deliver a spectacular event in the Saudi capital later this year.
“We are delighted to host the African Super Cup at Riyadh Season, which represents one of the most important tournaments on the African continent,” shared Alalshikh. “We look forward to a competitive match that lives up to its promise.”
The upcoming CAF Super Cup Final will see two of Africa’s football giants compete against each other. Al Ahly, the current champions of the CAF Champions League will go head-to-head with Zamalek, the winners of the CAF Confederation Cup. It’s set to be a major highlight of Riyadh Season, bringing fans to a thrilling match between two football powerhouses.
For those unversed with the CAF Super Cup, it’s an annual football competition organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). It pits the winners of the CAF Champions League, Africa’s premier club competition, against the champions of the CAF Confederation Cup, highlighting the best football clubs in Africa.
