Fury and Usyk rematch to rock Riyadh
The two boxing legends will come face-to-face in the Saudi capital once again.
Saudi Arabia is coming in strong with its sports news. After a thrilling match earlier this month, boxing legends Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are all set for a highly anticipated rematch in Riyadh, set to take place later this year.
The clash between Fury and Usyk took place on 18 May in the Saudi capital, where Usyk emerged victorious by split decision. This victory allowed him to add Fury’s WBC (World Boxing Council) belt to his existing titles, making him the first undisputed world heavyweight champion in almost 25 years.
Tyson Fury, convinced he had won the initial bout, called for an immediate rematch. And while this was initially expected to take place in October, it has now been scheduled for 21 December 2024.
Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, confirmed the news, sharing: “The world will watch another historical fight again. Our commitment to boxing fans continues and we hope you enjoy it.”
The rematch will take place during Riyadh Season, a festival held every winter since its inception in 2019. It has now become synonymous with hosting high-profile boxing events, making it the perfect backdrop for another fight.

For Fury, this rematch is a chance to reclaim his title and avenge his first professional defeat in his 16-year career. Despite the loss, Fury is far from considering retirement. The 35-year-old from Manchester, England, was the WBC’s world champion until his match with Fury, a title he has held since 2020.
On the other hand, 37-year-old Usyk hails from Simferopol, Ukraine, and has won all 22 of his professional fights. His career includes gold medals at the 2011 World Championships and the 2012 Olympics. He also previously fought in Saudi Arabia, defeating Anthony Joshua in Jeddah.
Details of the rematch’s venue and tickets are still under wraps.
