Here are all the athletes representing Saudi Arabia at Paralympics Games Paris 2024

This is the Kingdom’s largest delegation for the tournament.

When Saudi Arabia said it was going for global domination, it wasn’t just talking about expanding its regional developments. The Kingdom also had its eyes set on shining on the international stage, particularly in sports where Saudi athletes are stepping into the limelight. With the Paralympics Games Paris 2024 in full swing, Saudi Arabia’s talented athletes are ready to compete and make history.

For the first time, Saudi Arabia will be represented in different sports at the Paralympics, sending its largest delegation to date. Taking place until 8 September, nine Saudi athletes will compete in athletics, weightlifting, taekwondo, table tennis, and dressage. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

Abdulrahman Al Qurashi

Abdulrahman Al Qurashi made waves by securing Saudi Arabia’s first-ever Paralympic medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games. And now he’s back on the track in Paris to compete in the 100m and 400m wheelchair athletics events, showcasing the Kingdom’s dedication to inclusivity in sports. He was one of the torchbearers for the opening ceremony of the Paralympics as well.

Adnan Saeed

At just 20 years old, Adnan Saeed is already making waves in the powerlifting arena. Having carved out a name for himself in para powerlifting, he will be flexing his muscles on the Paralympic stage and potentially bringing home a medal.

Ahmed Sharbatly

Equestrian sports are also on the agenda for Saudi Arabia with Ahmed Sharbatly becoming the first dressage competitor to represent the Kingdom at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. This year, he will once again take the stage, hoping to add yet another illustrious chapter to his career.

Ali Al Nakhli

Ali Al Nakhli will be showcasing his impressive skills in both the 100m and 200m races. With strong performances in previous Paralympic and Asian Para Games, he’s determined to keep his winning streak alive.

Eyad Abdullah Al Turayk

Eyad Abdullah Al Turayk will be representing Saudi Arabia in taekwondo, bringing his experience from the Asian Para Games and World Championships — and a bronze from the Oceania Para Championships. His fighting skills will be on full display at the Paralympics.

Ghalia Al Anzi

In table tennis, Ghalia Al Anzi will be representing Saudi Arabia. Most recently, she competed in the 2024 ITTF Egypt Para Open. Now, she’s heading to the Paralympic arena and aiming to bring back a win for the Kingdom. She was one of the torchbearers for the opening ceremony of the Paralympics as well.

Hassan Dawshi

Returning to the Paralympic stage is Hassan Dawshi, who last competed in the Tokyo 2020 Games. Dawshi’s previous records of long jumps have positioned him as a strong contender in the competition. He’s won several medals in the past as well including a gold at GCC Games 2022.

Noor Al Sanaa

Noor Al Sanaa gained international fame back in 2019 when he finished first at the World Championships in Dubai. He’s once again taking on the 100m sprint at this year’s Paralympics, hoping to replicate his previous success on the global stage.

Sarah Al Jumaa

Sarah Al Jumaa is one of Saudi Arabia’s first female para-athletes and a shot put competitor. After making her Paralympic debut at Tokyo 2020, she has become a force to be reckoned with. This year, she is hoping to land herself on the podium with a shiny metal around her neck.

The Paralympics Games Paris 2024 will showcase the talent of these nine athletes and demonstrate Saudi Arabia’s commitment to sports excellence and inclusivity, eventually leading to a prominent presence on the global stage.
