Meet Team Saudi’s seven men and three women.
On your marks, get set, Olympics. The 2024 Paris Olympics will take place from 26 July to 11 August. The event will bring together approximately 206 countries and 2,900 athletes. Team Saudi Arabia includes 10 athletes in athletics, equestrian, swimming, and taekwondo.
Team Saudi Arabia includes seven men and three women. Saudi Arabia has previously claimed Olympic medals in show jumping at Sydney 2000 and London 2012. This year’s team includes Ramzy Al-Duhami, Abdullah Alsharbatly, Khaled Almobty and Abdulrahman Alrajhi.
Mashael Alayed makes history as the first Saudi Arabian female swimmer to compete at an Olympic Games. The 17-year-old was awarded a wildcard invitation to compete in the 200-metre freestyle heats. Plus, Zaid Al Sarraj was awarded a place in the 100-metre freestyle.
Duna Abutaleb is competing in taekwondo, and she has made history as the first Saudi Arabian female to qualify for the Olympics without the need for a wildcard invitation. The athletics events include Mohammed Daouda Tolo and Hussain Al-Hiza. Plus, Hibah Mohammed is the national record holder for the 100 metres and 200 metres, and she is the only Saudi Arabian female to represent the country in athletics.
