For those who grew up in Saudi Arabia during the era when weekends were Thursday and Friday, Wednesday nights were synonymous with staying up late to watch wrestling on Channel 2. Now, it’s time to relive that nostalgic excitement—but this time, it’s bigger than ever. Instead of watching from the comfort of your couch or bed, you’ll experience the action live and in person because the WWE Royal Rumble is coming to Riyadh.
Taking place in January 2026, Riyadh will host the WWE Royal Rumble — marking a historic first for the WWE series outside of North America. It’ll also be the 39th annual Royal Rumble, forming part of Riyadh Season’s lineup of events. The wrestling tournament is backed by WWE and Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority as announced by Turki Alalshikh.
While the official lineup of WWE Royal Rumble 2026 hasn’t been revealed yet, fans can expect global superstars to make their way to the Saudi capital. Apart from those wrestling in the ring, it would also be exciting to see the likes of retired legends such as Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Undertaker meet fans in Saudi Arabia. Whether you’re looking forward to seeing new favourites or longtime icons, the WWE Royal Rumble promises action and drama.
For those unversed, the WWE Royal Rumble is one of the biggest matches in the WWE calendar. Its unpredictability and old rivalries make it a favourite amongst the masses. The tournament features both men’s and women’s competitions. Wrestlers enter the ring at intervals, aiming to throw their opponents over the top rope to remove them from the competition. After all others have been eliminated, the last one standing is crowned the winner.
While Saudi Arabia has previously hosted WWE spectacles like Crown Jewel, Smackdown and RAW, this will be the debut of the WWE Royal Rumble on Saudi soil.
