GHM group recently announced the signing of The Chedi Wadi Safar in line with Vision 2030.

Saudi Arabia’s transformation into a destination for cultural and luxury lifestyle experiences continues, with the impending arrival of a Chedi property making for one more feather in its proverbial cap. GHM, the luxury hospitality group behind The Chedi Al Bait in Sharjah and The Chedi Andermatt in Switzerland, recently announced the signing of The Chedi Wadi Safar in Diriyah, a city founded in the 15th century and declared the capital of the First Saudi State in 1744.

The Chedi Wadi Safar is strategically located in one of Saudi Arabia’s most important heritage and cultural destinations. The project draws upon its rich past and the centuries-old At-Turaif UNESCO World Heritage Site in becoming one of the world’s most foremost mixed-use historic, cultural and lifestyle destinations. It is also the first global giga project to simultaneously open and announce world-class assets annually, with a total of 38 international hoteliers debuting upon the project’s completion. The Chedi Wadi Safar and 15 other hotel brands have since been unveiled and will be situated across two of DGDA’s master plans – Diriyah and Wadi Safar.

“Diriyah is the birthplace of Saudi Arabia and was the capital of the First Saudi State. In line with Vision 2030, we are working hard to position this iconic location as the modern epicentre of historical and cultural experiences and one of the greatest gathering places in the world,” said Jerry Inzerillo, DGDA’s Group Chief Executive Officer. “We have chosen each hotel brand with care ensuring our discerning guests are welcomed with their distinctive avant-garde design, world-class amenities, and unmatched customer service standards. The Chedi Wadi Safar’s serene and tranquil environment will pay a fitting tribute to the majestic Wadi Safar by delivering its renowned authentic and unrivalled approach to hospitality. We are extremely happy to welcome The Chedi to Diriyah.”

Diriyah is currently in its first phase of construction, with the 14-square-kilometre project set to include a diverse collection of museums and galleries for cultural exploration and education. Under DGDA’s mandate in contribution to Vision 2030, it aims to support the national tourism strategy of hosting 100 million tourists worldwide by 2030, of which Diriyah aims to attract more than 27 million visitors annually. “We are honoured to be part of this visionary project,” added Tommy Lai, Chief Executive Officer of GHM. “Wadi Safar is famous for its unspoiled landscape and rich cultural traditions. Through The Chedi Wadi Safar, we look forward to exhibiting elegance and timeless authenticity imbued with our signature hallmark of A Style to Remember to all who visit in Diriyah, while staying respectful to the unique beauty of this sacred place.”

The Chedi brand will also be opening in Trojena as part of the Neom megaproject. Nestled within the Slope Residences in the mountain enclave, The Chedi Trojena will form an integral part of the residential village that is divided into six distinctive clusters: Gateway, Discover, Valley, Explore, Relax, and Fun. The hotel will be located in the Relax Cluster and serve as a sanctuary for reflection, recreation, and rejuvenation.
