Forget about hammocks by the beach, this one is located 200 metres in the air.
When you hear the word hammock, it might sound like it was made for relaxation. AlUla is switching things up, however, with its Via Ferrata and Canyon Hammock experience. So, here’s how to let out your thrill-seeking side while hanging in the air.
Via Ferrata and Canyon Hammock begins with a climb up the mountain. Challenge yourself with ariel walks and obstacles along the way, which include bridges and ladders. Once you have reached 200 metres high, you will be located between two cliffs. The hammock net awaits and you will be able to, well, hang out.
The Via Ferrata and Canyon Hammock experience lasts approximately three hours. Participants must be seven years old or above, at least 110 centimetres and between 40 to 100kg. The session includes a guide in Arabic or English, and safety equipment to keep you strapped in. If this sounds like a tough task, you can choose to watch from afar at The Adventure Hub. Supporters can stay in the hub to cheer people on and take photos.
There are plenty of reasons to visit AlUla. The Ancient Kingdoms Festival is also underway. Bringing together a dazzling line-up of cultural activities, it runs from 11 to 27 November. Visitors can learn about the region’s historic sights through one-of-kind experiences, which include tours and workshops.
Via Ferrata and Canyon Hammock is available until 10 March 2024. The experience is open from Wednesday to Sunday, and morning sessions run from 6am to 7am and afternoon sessions run from 12pm. Tickets start from SAR 180.
Happy hammocking.
