Sharjah’s new Rain Street offers downpours on demand

Beat the heat. Umbrellas are optional.

Everyone loves exploring Abu Dhabi and Dubai, but Sharjah has its own secrets that are worth discovering too. And this summer, you won’t be able to say no to Sharjah because it’s giving you a unique opportunity to cool down. The emirate has welcomed a new rain installation and this time, it’s an entire street. Grab your brolly – here’s how you can walk in a climate-controlled downpour.

Located on Zawaya Walk, Sharjah’s newest attraction is the Rain Street. This means that in the scorching heat of the summer, you can now take a leisurely stroll without breaking a sweat. Enjoy a cup of karak or grab a bite from the nearby cafes and restaurants while letting cool droplets of water cascade over you. And don’t worry, you’ll not get drenched.

The Rain Street in Sharjah offers seven shows a day, which means you can either enjoy this during the day, or at night. Each show (read: rain) lasts five minutes and you can enjoy these at 9am, 10am, 11am, 5pm, 9pm, 10pm or 11pm.

Now, you must be thinking that artificial rain in Sharjah sounds familiar — and you’re right. The Sharjah Art Foundation has also installed a famous Rain Room in Sharjah’s Al Majarrah district. But unlike Zawaya Walk’s Rain Street, the Rain Room allows you to walk through the downpour without getting wet. It’s yet another exciting experience that many residents and tourists consider a must-see attraction in the UAE.

So if you’re looking for a new place to chill, the Rain Street in Sharjah at Zawaya Walk is the perfect way to cool down. With plenty of dining concepts nearby to choose from, you’re in for a wholesome day out in the emirate.
