Spa Review: Armani/SPA at Armani Hotel Dubai

Luxuriation inside the world’s tallest building.

As one of only two hotels in the world bearing the name of luxury Italian fashion house Armani, Armani Hotel Dubai offers an enviable location inside the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa.

The sleek and sophisticated address instils visitors with a sense of refinement from the moment they enter through the sliding glass doors and into the lobby. Situated on the third floor of the five-star property, the spa is the embodiment of the lifestyle and design of Giorgio Armani. The 12,000-square-foot spa offers unique spaces, personal fitness, sequential thermal bathing and impeccable service for a day of relaxation and sheer indulgence.

Greeted by a huge Armani logo that stretches across the reception area, we are immediately enamoured by the genuine warmth of the staff who joke about our inadvertent outfit choice – a white Armani polo shirt that fits the venue perfectly.

Having completed the consultation forms alongside a refreshing glass of watermelon juice, we’re whisked into the heart of the spa, via a series of secluded passageways. The sultry darkness makes for a welcome change from the clinical spa environments adapted by many establishments in Dubai. From the marble-clad changing rooms to the thermal bathing rooms, Armani/SPA boats a blend of serenity and sophistication that is hard to rival. 

Venturing onto the pool deck we are impressed by the turquoise body of water elevated above the city skyscrapers, offering an urban oasis in the centre of modern Dubai. The swimming pool follows the design of the Spider Lily plant upon which the Burj Khalifa was based, resembling a petal peeling away from the facade of the world’s tallest building. Gazing skywards, we can’t help but feel a sense of intense wonderment.

Armani/SPA’s various therapies are designed to fulfill different goals. MU quenches a desire for relaxation and stillness, Libertà encourages freedom of movement and the release of physical pain, and Fluidità enhances vitality while restoring internal balance. Opting for two treatments from the MU collection, we’re led by our therapist into a circular treatment room, where cupboards, showers and alcoves are revealed like elaborate magic tricks.

The room promotes a sense of stillness with its rust-coloured walls and a circular light fitting resembling the moon. We feel as though we’ve entered into an inter-planetary world as we sink into a comfortable chair and our feet are bathed in cool waters afloat with fragrant rose petals.

Our treatment begins with a smooth and relaxing MU Body Scrub, utilising a medium pressure exfoliation to gently lift away dull skin and improve cell renewal. The process leaves our skin feeling smooth and our mind deeply relaxed. We follow the body scrub with a MU Body Massage, using Armani’s signature Bois body oil to induce a deeply relaxing sensation that together with rhythmic movements, aims to restore sleep and relieve tension. 

The soft and delicate touch treatments we experienced resulted in a memorable spa journey and one that could be combined with massages, body wraps and facials, should time permit. 

An array of facilities, including sauna, steam vapore, acqua, laconium and ice showers, alongside the aforementioned swimming pool means you can go all out for a day of relaxation, and why not? It’s not often you’ll find yourself at a luxury fashion hotel inside Burj Khalifa.
