As Ramadan fast approaches, chef Sara Aqel is tying her signature bandana and getting to work, crafting dishes that draw on her Palestinian heritage with a touch of the Mediterranean. Diners can catch her in action every Thursday and Friday of Ramadan at Market at EDITION.
Named Michelin Bib Gourmand Chef in 2022, Chef Sara has showcased her culinary talents across the globe working as the Executive Chef for popular Italian-Mediterranean eatery Fi’lia in Miami, The Bahamas, and most recently Paris. The 27-year-old is no stranger to the UAE food scene either, having worked at Al Muntaha (Burj Al Arab), Torno Subito (W Dubai – The Palm), and most famously Fi’lia Dubai. It was here that she headed the first female-led restaurant in the region.
From sunset to 9:30pm, iftar goers will be able to enjoy a special Ramadan culinary experience that embraces an authentic local connection. Set in the light, modern Market at EDITION lifestyle restaurant, guests can expect live stations or elevate their experience to intimate table service in the private dining room. As for what’s on the menu? The likes of piquant Lentil Tesa’ai and Local Honey Baked Feta, flavourful Gaza Tomato and Gaza’s Moussaka before delving into mighty mains such as Dawood Basha.
The post-fast meal will wrap on a sweet note, featuring Teta’s Rice Pudding which offers vanilla, caramel and hazelnut flavours for a wholesome finish. As the night progresses, guests have the opportunity to relax and converse with suhoor at The Abu Dhabi EDITION. Available for private bookings only, Arabian flavours will be served from 10pm as diners prepare for the upcoming day. Shisha will also be available.
