The sports star has signed a four-match deal.

Saudi Arabia, get ready to rumble. The Mexican boxing legend Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is coming to the capital. He has signed a four-fight deal, and the first match takes place on 3 May in Riyadh against William Scull.

Amid speculation about a May showdown with Terence Crawford in Las Vegas and a potential clash with YouTuber Jake Paul, Canelo has set his sights on high-stakes battles in Saudi Arabia, sidelining previous plans. The bout in Riyadh on 3 May will see Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez fight William Scull at the ANB Arena.

Saul hails from Jalisco, Mexico. When he was 15 years old, he started his professional boxing career. When he was 20 years old, he became the youngest fighter to win the World Boxing Council light middleweight title. Over his career, he has held multiple world championships in four weight classes. He will later headline two matches in Riyadh, which are set to take place in February and October 2026.

William Scull is a Cuban professional boxer who resides in Berlin and represents Germany in his professional fights. Scull is the current IBF super-middleweight champion but his fight against Alvarez for the undisputed super-middleweight title in Riyadh will be a significant step up in competition for Scull.

Beyond the headline bout, “Fatal Fury” is stacking the deck with a lineup of world-class clashes that promise to set the ring on fire. In the super welterweight division, Mexican Jaime Munguia steps in against France’s rising star Bruno Surace for what’s expected to be a tactical showdown of speed and strength. Over in the heavyweight category, the gloves come off as Martin Bakole of Congo squares up against Efe Ajagba from Nigeria.

Swedish cruiserweight legend Badou Jack returns to the ring to face Canada’s hard-hitting Ryan Rozicki, while Mexican welterweights Marco Verde and Michel Bolina prepare for a fierce domestic face-off. Rounding out the card, Cuban talent Bryan Leon takes on Mexico’s Aaron Guerrero in a lightweight battle that promises fireworks.

Saudi Arabia has hit the headlines for its sports events, including big-name boxing matches. The Battle of the Baddest boxing match took place in Boulevard Hall Stadium in Riyadh on 28 October 2023 and welcomed footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, boxer Conor McGregor, Bollywood star Salman Khan, rapper Eminem, and rapper and producer Kanye West. Rumble in Riyadh took place on 8 March 2024, and saw boxers Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou fight at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.
