This year marks the tournament’s third edition.
Abu Dhabi’s event-packed calendar is rolling into 2025 with plenty to do. With the likes of Coldplay and Sting headling concerts across the emirate, sports will also be at the forefront in the capital because Mubadala Abu Dhabi is making a return. This time, it’s bringing back tennis star Ons Jabeur.
Ons Jabeur will be taking part in the tournament after months of recovery from a shoulder injury that kept her off the court for half of 2024. This return isn’t only big for Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open but for Ons and her fans as well, who’ve been waiting to see her in court.
“I’m delighted to be returning to the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, one of my favourite tournaments in my home region where I always receive such fantastic support,” shared Ons Jabeur. “ It’s been a frustrating few months out with my shoulder injury, but I expect to be back fully fit for 2025, and I’m already looking forward to competing in Abu Dhabi once again.”
For those unversed, Ons Jabeur, who hails from Tunisia, is one of the most loved figures in the world of tennis — especially in the Middle East region. She has made history as the first Arab woman to reach the finals of a Grand Slam, achieving runner-up status at Wimbledon in 2022 and 2023, and the US Open in 2022. She currently has five WTA singles titles to her name and is also ranked no. 2 on WTA.
Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open takes place from 1 to 8 February at the International Tennis Centre in Zayed Sports City. This year’s edition marks the third in the series and promises thrilling matches, with 28 top singles players and 16 doubles teams. While One Jabeur’s attendance alone is enough to stir excitement, more names will be announced soon.
Tickets for the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open are live now and start at AED 25, going up to AED 995. So grab yours now and secure your seat.
