The world’s best tennis stars are heading to Dubai
The World Tennis League brings together the world’s top tennis players in an engaging, team-driven format.
In another first for the city, the World Tennis League will take place in Dubai from 19 to 24 December, bringing with it a star-studded line-up – Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek, Nick Kyrgios and Elena Rybakina included. Hosted by Coca-Cola Arena, the event will also offer a fun-filled format featuring epic two-set battles across both singles and mixed doubles matches, with a 10-point tie-breaker set to decide the final outcome, if needed. And after play each evening, ticket holders for ‘The Greatest Show on Court’ can experience a thrilling concert featuring top artists from around the globe.
Novak Djokovic, arguably the best player that tennis has ever seen, will head the men’s field, with world number one Iga Swiatek leading the women’s entry list. Djokovic is no stranger to success, with 21 Grand Slam titles including nine Australian Opens, two French Opens, seven Wimbledons and three US Opens to his name. “This new event is exciting, there’s no doubt about it,” he said. I absolutely love playing in Dubai, I’ve had a lot of success there over the years and really enjoy the fans. This is something different, and it’s going to be great being a part of it.” Joining the men’s field are Alexander Zverev (a rising star who reached a ranking of two in the world this year) and Nick Kyrgios (one of the most colourful characters on the ATP Tour).
Swiatek, a WTA fan favourite, will arrive in Dubai following her Grand Slam victories at the French Open and US Open in 2022. “I like it most when tennis connects people and when it’s true entertainment,” she said. “When it’s combined with a great show and music, it’s even better, so that’s the reason why I’m excited to join this year’s World Tennis League. I’m happy that together with other top players we’ll introduce tennis as fun to new audiences. I can’t wait!” From the women’s field, former world number one Simona Halep and current Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina will add to a world-class line-up of tennis talent.
The World Tennis League has also announced the launch of limited-edition Golden Circle tickets, which are now on sale. From AED 399 per concert, music fans can catch Tiësto, Wizkid, deadmau5, Ne-Yo, Mohamed Ramadan, and Armin van Buuren, who will perform at 9:30pm each day. The Golden Circle area is located right in front of the stage, which means that those who snag a ticket will have some of the closest and best views of the world-class DJs and performers, but be warned: this ticket does not include access to the tennis matches played prior.
