Here’s how to get your hands on tickets to the special sports event.
Football fever is in the air. Not only is FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 around the corner, but the sporting star Lionel Messi is now coming to the UAE. The world-famous footballer is arriving for a friendly match between UAE and Argentina on 16 November, and a training session on 13 November at 6pm. Best of all: if you have some loose dirhams to spare – AED 25, to be precise – you can watch the training match.
Tickets are available now to watch Lionel Messi in the UAE. The training match takes place at Al Nayhan Stadium and is a rare opportunity to watch one of the world’s greatest footballers in action. He has played in the World Cup five times, won seven Ballon d’Or awards, and six European Golden Shoes.
Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “Argentina are one of the favourites to lift the World Cup this December and many of the team’s players have been quite open about this potentially being their last major tournament.
“We are keen to ensure all those who missed out on tickets for the match with the UAE still have a chance to watch the players up close as they prepare in Abu Dhabi ahead of their campaign for a third World Cup title. For this reason, prices for the open training are very accessibly priced.”
FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 runs from 20 November to 18 December. If you haven’t managed to nab tickets to the tournament, don’t worry. There are plenty of amazing places in the UAE to watch the beautiful game and Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Season has a dedicated fan zone.
Footballing events are expected to fill the region. In the UAE, An Evening with England Legends: Gary Neville and Michael Owen is scheduled to take place in Dubai’s The Agenda in Media City on 17 November. The pair will share their career highlights in an intimate conversation, and tickets are available now.
Footie heroes, please keep coming.
