The marine life theme park will include the world’s largest aquarium.

The UAE loves a megaproject, especially a family-friendly one. Miral and SeaWorld have partnered to create SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, a massive marine life theme park on Yas Island, which is on track for completion in 2022.

In true UAE-style, the attraction plans to break world records and be home to the world’s largest aquarium. The aquarium will house 25 million litres of water and more than 68,000 marine animals, which range from sharks to sea turtles. Plus, it will be the first SeaWorld to be developed without orcas – that’s killer whales.

To give you some idea of the sheer scale, upon completion SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will span 183,000 square meters and five floors. That means plenty of family-friendly fun, as SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is set to include up-close animal encounters and immersive experiences.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will also include Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center – the country’s first dedicated marine research, rescue and rehabilitation centre. The centre aims to focus on indigenous marine life in the Gulf, and it will include facilities to support regional as well as global conservation.

Marc Swanson, CEO of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, said: “We are honoured to partner with Miral to bring SeaWorld’s unforgettable guest experiences and our important mission to Yas Island and the region. We have hundreds of professionals focused on animal care, rescue and rehabilitation, conservation education, habitat protection, and species research and we are excited to see the Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center further expand SeaWorld’s positive global impact with the vitally important marine life conservation efforts in the region.”
