From toddlers to teens, this resort offers adventure for all ages.

When you hear the word Maldives, you instantly think of stunning turquoise waters, Insta-worthy landscapes, and a quintessential honeymoon destination. After all, the country is accessible to all with its visa-on-arrival policy.

On my first-ever trip to the Maldives, we landed in a rainy Male, but the weather didn’t dampen our spirits. Weathering the stormy conditions, the Four Seasons private speedboat took us on a 30-minute jaunt across the Indian Ocean to our paradisal destination: Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa.

Stepping onto the main jetty, we were greeted with a traditional Maldivian welcome, complete with drums and smiles from the courteous staff. The gloomy weather outside was quickly forgotten as we were warmly received and escorted via a waterproof buggy to the lobby, where a refreshing drink awaited us.

Opened in 1998, the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa maintains its charm while meeting modern standards. The resort’s architectural design is similar to that of a Maldivian village, creating an authentic and serene atmosphere. The resort boasts 96 beach and water villas, including one-, two-, and three-bedroom options, making it a perfect destination for families and couples alike.

Accommodation

Checking into a water villa is a must for anyone visiting the Maldives — at least for the first time — and ours was nothing short of spectacular. Designed in the traditional Maldivian style, the villas feature thatched roofs, wooden flooring, decorative lattice panels and columns.

One side of the room housed the bathroom, equipped with his-and-hers sinks, a tub with textured sandy finishes and large windows overlooking the deck. The other side comprised of wardrobe space sufficient for two people.

As we ventured deeper, we found a king-size bed with wicker lamps overlooking the private plunge pool. The room also featured a sofa overlooking the deck, which proved perfect for naps or simply gazing out at the ocean. A television, dining and study desk, and ample storage complete the room. The furnishings were primarily black wood, with woven carpets featuring blue and turquoise accents reflecting the surrounding sea.

Stepping onto the deck, we found sun beds for relaxation, two hammocks suspended over the water, an infinity pool, and outdoor seating with a table for al fresco dining. Stairs led directly into the ocean, providing easy access for a swim.
