If you’re looking for a soul-stirring retreat, this is where you need to be.
The Maldives is often described as paradise on Earth — a favourite for honeymooners and families alike. While the country boasts several properties, Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru is perfect if you’re yearning for a solo retreat to rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul.
Located within the Maldives’ first UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in Baa Atoll, Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru is accessible via a scenic 45-minute ride in a private Four Seasons private seaplane from Male. Landaa Giravaaru translates to “moving sand,” and this is evident throughout the Four Seasons property which boasts several sand banks.
Upon arriving at the resort, you’re immediately struck by the sense of space and tranquillity. The lobby, with its Maldivian-style decor, sets the tone for your stay. Daybeds add to the airy, relaxed ambience while minimalist furnishings, fairy-tale-like curtains in the veranda, and draped sofas with lacquer furniture create a welcoming and enchanting environment.
Accommodation
Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru houses 103 units, each designed with contemporary Maldivian flair. Accommodations range from beach villas and water villas with pools to expansive two- and three-bedroom suites. Whether nestled along the beach, perched over the lagoon, or hidden down jungle paths, every villa is equipped with modern and luxurious touches.
FACT checked into a Beach Villa with Pool, one of 21 such units at the resort, where a turquoise blue door awaited our arrival. Next to the door, a bicycle was parked — customised with our initials, adding a personal and warm touch to our stay.
Step through the main door and you’ll be greeted by a vast outdoor area. But another pink door leads you inside to your humble abode. As you step inside, you’ll be instantly impressed by the modern interiors. The villa’s luxurious design and furnishings beautifully blend with the natural surroundings of the island, creating your own sanctuary amidst the jungle.
The ceiling mimics the inside of a traditional hut but is taller and brighter, enhancing the spacious feel. A well-stocked minibar sits on one side, while a soft settee in beige and grey tones with orange accents overlooks sliding glass doors that lead to the outdoor pool. A small dining and study table with woven wicker chairs adds functionality.
Venturing further, a king-size bed, with a black wood canopy and white drapes, promises a restful night’s sleep. Rustic beige side tables and wicker wall panelling add to the room’s elegance. The room also features a 65-inch TV and a wooden console, blending technology seamlessly into the decor.
The bathroom is separated from the living area by sliding doors. Here, you’ll be greeted by a massive round tub. Two sinks, an enclosed toilet area with a well-stocked vanity and a shower area complete the picture. For those who prefer an al fresco experience, an outdoor shower allows you to enjoy the tropical surroundings while maintaining privacy.
Outside, the villa boasts a large pool surrounded by lots of seating, including sunbeds and bean bags. A fountain-like water feature with a daybed on top is perfect for Instagram-worthy shots and adds a touch of whimsy. The lush greenery around the villa invites wildlife, making it a haven for nature lovers. We spotted geckos, hermit crabs, birds, and even iguanas during our stay.
