99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant to open Kō in Abu Dhabi and Dubai

Kō is opening in Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara.

If you’ve got 99 problems, sushi won’t be one when you visit this restaurant. The team behind 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant has announced that is expanding its brands across Abu Dhabi and Dubai with the opening of a new concept, Kō.

In 2005, the 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant story started in Spain, and it was created by two brothers Fernando and Pedro de Leon. The restaurant prides itself on serving haute Japanese cuisine, and the use of high-quality ingredients.

In 2017, 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant opened in Abu Dhabi. It quickly gained fans, from the critics who awarded it a MICHELIN Star to the multiple FACT Dining Awards. In 2020, the brand expanded to Dubai, opening a restaurant with lavish interiors and Burj Khalifa views.

The sister brand Kō is preparing to open in Abu Dhabi in 2024, and Dubai in 2026. Perched on the expansive terrace of Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara, with sweeping vistas of the world’s largest continuous sand desert, Kō Abu Dhabi will deliver the haute Japanese cuisine from its Michelin-starred counterpart within a captivating and refined ambience. Diners can expect signature dishes infused with fiery flavours, traditional hot-kitchen favourites, captivating robata presentations, and impeccably grilled meats, alongside a curated selection of flambéed sushi and maki rolls.

The restaurant will begin as a pop-up experience available during the final weekend of each month, during which two tasting menus will be presented. A 10-course option priced at AED 800 per couple features Caviar Hosomaki, Ko-be Edamame, Cayenne King Crab, Hotate Tempura, Hamachi Maki, Uni Tempura Maki, Toro Gunkan, Foie Maguro Zuke Nigiri, Wagyu Robata, and a delightful Japanese Soufflé. Meanwhile, the second menu, a 12-course selection at AED 1,200 per couple, elevates the gastronomic experience with premium ingredients, featuring dishes like the 99 Jewel Maki and A5 Queen Nigiri.

In June, the venue will undergo a complete summer transformation, ensuring that Kō can establish a permanent presence for the upcoming winter season of 2024. The location for Kō in Dubai has not yet been confirmed.
