Explore the crossover of culture and cuisine in this innovative show.
ARTE and Louvre Abu Dhabi are taking art off the canvas and onto the plate. Running from 1 August to 28 September, the initiative reimagines museum pieces as an edible art exhibition. The event combines culture with cuisine through displays, demonstrations and even tasting experiences.
In the exhibition area, edible sculptures replicating the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s collection will be displayed. The pieces draw inspiration from the Chinese Winged Dragon, the Greek Military Helmet, and the ivory sculpture of the Canister Tower with its Case.
Guests will be able to taste the art. A patisserie booth will be located in the museum, and the creations will include small cakes with edible art. The pieces will range from Paul Klee’s Oriental Bliss to a Chinese Blue White Dish with a Lotus Bouquet. Plus, the museum’s café will offer a dessert menu inspired by the art collection.
ARTE and Louvre Abu Dhabi aim to challenge traditional ideas of art and explore how art can be created through different forms of expression. Special workshops will also be held during the exhibition.
ARTE is a culinary concept, which explores the intersection of desserts and visual arts. ARTE has locations in Dubai Mall and Production City. Louvre Abu Dhabi opened in 2017 and was created with an agreement between the governments of Abu Dhabi and France. The collection includes artefacts, religious texts, iconic paintings, and contemporary artworks. The permanent collection is supplemented by loans from 19 French partner institutions.
ARTE and Louvre Abu Dhabi’s edible art exhibition is open daily from 10am to 6.30pm on weekdays and from 10am to 8.30pm on weekends.
