IIFA Awards return to Abu Dhabi for a third time

This year, Shah Rukh Khan will be hosting the ceremony.

Bollywood and the UAE have had a long-standing love affair. Not only have a lot of movies been shot in the region, but the UAE has also played host to some of the most glamorous Bollywood events. And now, the IIFA Awards – also known as the Oscars of Bollywood – are making their way to Abu Dhabi once again.

Returning with a hat trick, the IIFA Awards 2024 will take place at the Etihad Arena on 28 September. The ceremony will once again honour the best of Indian cinema, which has seen some of the biggest releases in recent times. But that’s not the only reason this edition is more exciting than others. Bollywood’s biggest star, Shah Rukh Khan will be hosting IIFA Awards 2024. He will be joined on stage alongside his best friend and filmmaker, Karan Johar.

Shah Rukh Khan has long been a UAE admirer. Not only does he own properties in the country, including his Palm Jumeirah mansion, but he’s also been the face of Visit Dubai campaigns in the past. This time, he’s bringing his charm to the capital. 

“IIFA is a celebration of Indian cinema that resonates across the globe and being a part of its journey over the years has been amazing,” said Shah Rukh Khan. “I look forward to bringing the energy, passion, and grandeur of IIFA to life once again, as we gear up for an unforgettable celebration of Indian cinema this September.”

In addition to Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar, other notable celebrities attending the event will include Shahid Kapoor, who will be bringing his dancing prowess to the stage. Nominees such as Tripti Dimri, Ranveer Singh, and Vikrant Massey are also expected to attend.
