The concept goes from a hole-in-the-wall to a 50-cover restaurant.

Warning: you may experience FOMO. Marmellata in Abu Dhabi is back with its queue-worthy pizzas. When the restaurant launched three years ago, it may have only been open one night a week, but it was the talk of the town. So, if you want to join the foodie conversation, here’s how you can get a slice of the action.

Visitors can say goodbye to queuing outdoors, and hello to the brand-new restaurant. Marmellata in Abu Dhabi’s new space boasts 25 indoor seats and 25 outdoor seats. The menu includes its famously fresh focaccia and what they call New York-ish pizzas. Plus, toppings range from the popular pepperoni with garlic confit and spicy honey to kale and oyster mushroom.

In 2019, Marmellata was created by Raj and Sebastian Dagstani, a father and son duo. When the hole-in-the-wall concept opened near Mina Zayed, it quickly became a hit. During the Covid-19 pandemic, it reopened with online orders.

Hailing from Colorado, United States, Raj wanted to create a neighbourhood concept, which felt like an extension of the family’s home. Marmellata means marmalade in Italian, and draws on Raj’s time in Italy as well as the family’s Friday night pizza ritual. Raj wanted Sebastian, who was 13 years old, to learn life skills. Plus, Sebastian is now 16 years old and plans to study hotel management at EHL hospitality and business school

Marmellata in Abu Dhabi is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 4pm to 8.30pm.
