The Indian restaurant is expanding to the capital.
The UAE is renowned for its world-class dining scene, and Indian cuisine is particularly beloved in the region. When a restaurant is backed by a celebrity chef, you can expect an exceptional culinary experience. Pincode by Kunal Kapur is already a favourite in Dubai, and now it’s expanding to Abu Dhabi.
Located in The Galleria at Al Maryah Island, Pincode by Kunal Kapoor promises Indian flavours with a regional twist. Think elevated Indian street food with a luxurious and Middle Eastern touch.
Pincode takes its name from the era of handwritten letters. It was a time when family recipes were passed down through generations in raw, written form—sometimes in diaries—that mothers and grandmothers maintained. Kunal Kapoor borrows this name to share the flavours from across India, as a love letter to the region’s diverse culinary offerings.
Drawing inspiration from his global travels and family culinary secrets, each dish at Pincode Abu Dhabi surprises with layers of flavour and masterful spice balance, ground in-house in traditional fashion. Signature offerings like the 12-hour Dal Makhni and the Pincode Signature Biryani emphasise an ingredient-forward approach. Creative additions, such as the Spiral Chaat—a fresh take on Indian street food—and the Saag Burrata, add warmth and depth to the dining experience.
The restaurant is designed to create immersive sensory moments, featuring an interior that mirrors the diversity of India’s diaspora. Guests are welcomed by a captivating veil installation at the entrance, adding a touch of mystery and inviting exploration within the cosy, enchanting space. Pincode’s aesthetic fuses traditional Indian craftsmanship, like intricate woodwork and artisanal details, with modern global influences. A rich colour palette—saffron yellows, indigo blues, ruby reds, and emerald greens—evokes India’s spirit, balanced by neutral tones that create an elegant and inviting atmosphere.
As for Chef Kunal Kapoor, he hails from New Delhi and started his career in a hotel management program. This led him to craft creations in some of the finest kitchens in India, including the Taj and Kempinski hotel groups. He garnered more fame when he appeared on Masterchef India. Today, he has authored several cookbooks and is a successful restaurateur.
“Abu Dhabi, with its cultural diversity and vibrant culinary scene, is the ideal home for Pincode,” Chef Kunal remarked. “The city’s appreciation for diverse cuisines aligns perfectly with our mission to celebrate Indian heritage through food. We’re thrilled to share our passion for flavor in a city that honors both tradition and modernity.”
Kunal Kapur initially opened an Indian Tapas and Bar named Quarter Plate in Noida, India and soon ventured to Dubai with Pincode by Kunal Kapur. After the Dubai success, he expanded to New Delhi, India and is now bringing the same culinary magic to Abu Dhabi.
