Located in Al Ain, it pays tribute to Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice. The PowerPuff Girls pop-up cafe has opened in the UAE and pays homage to the characters Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. Located in Al Ain, ESCEÑA describes itself as blending art with coffee. Running from 10 to 31 May, here’s how to give your coffee a power boost.

ESCEÑA in Al Ain draws inspiration from Cartoon Network’s The PowerPuff Girls. Guests can expect to see a pretty pink place, from staff in pink clothing, to drinks topped with pink foam. The interiors are decorated with posters of the characters, and even shows them in ESCEÑA staff hats. Plus, there are cups as well as stickers adorned with the three cute characters.

The PowerPuff Girls was created by the animator Craig McCracken. He originally made a short film called Whoopass, which was about a trio of childhood superheroes. The concept later developed into The PowerPuff Girls, which debuted in 1998. The show aired on Cartoon Network for six seasons, and revolved around schoolchildren with superpowers. The girls not only have to deal with growing up and sibling rivalry but also saving the world.

The series also spawned a feature-length film, The PowerPuff Girls Movie. Released in 2002, it shared the origin story of how the girls were born, and became defenders of Townsville. Plus, how the villain Mojo Jojo was created.

The PowerPuff Girls pop-up cafe at ESCEÑA is open on weekdays from 6.30am to 11.30pm, and weekends from 6.30am to midnight.
