Now in its 13th year, the dramatic displays shine a light on the city.

Add some light to your life courtesy of the Sharjah Light Festival. Now in its 13th year, the gorgeous, gram-worthy festival is back. Taking place from 7 to 18 February, it casts the whole of Sharjah in a brand-new light, as it combines light displays, projections and music with dramatic results.

This year’s Sharjah Light Festival brings together a lineup of local and international artists, to craft 15 spectacular light shows, unfolding over 12 consecutive days at 12 key locations, including three new additions — the General Directorate of Sharjah Police, the General Souq – Al Hamriyah, and Kalba Waterfront.

Utilising advanced energy-efficient lighting technologies, the festival aims to transform the facades of iconic landmarks, including Khalid Lagoon, Al Majaz Waterfront, BEEAH Group Headquarters, Al Dhaid Fort, Sharjah Mosque, Sheikh Rashid Al Qasimi Mosque, Al Noor Mosque, and Al Rafisah Dam. The interplay of light and music will enhance the stunning architecture of these venues, creating dynamic visual narratives that artfully articulate Sharjah’s rich history and heritage.

After filling up on culture, fill up on food and drink at one of the 40 outdoor pop-up stalls at the Light Village. Situated in front of the University City Hall building, it will showcase over 55 small and medium-sized national projects, adding to the festival’s allure and providing visitors with an immersive experience. The food and beverage stalls include burger joints, salad bars and speciality coffee shops, allowing you to dine under the stars. Plus, there are games and an exhibition on light, of course.

Sharjah Light Festival’s light installation and experiences are open from 4pm to midnight on weekdays, and from 4pm to 1am on weekends.

Sharjah is often overshadowed by its glitzy neighbours. But that still doesn’t take away its shine as the cultural hub of the UAE.

Prepare for some sparkle.
