From STOMP to Sweeney Stodd: Dubai Opera reveals its new season

The line-up includes Hans Zimmer, Majid Jordan and Sophie Ellis-Bexter. 


Dubai Opera is the place for exciting entertainment. Whether you’re after musicals, pop stars or theatre, it brings together world-class shows. The venue has unveiled its new season, and the highlights include Hans Zimmer, Majid Jordan and STOMP

Dubai Opera’s 2024-2025 season sees 10 artists and companies from around the world make their UAE debut. During the Grand Opening week, the performances include the opera Aida from 13 to 15 September; the ballet Giselle from 18 to 21 September; and the Polish National Opera’s Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony on 22 September.

Singin’ in the Rain

The West End musicals include Singin’ in the Rain and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Singin’ in the Rain is based on the classic Hollywood film and runs from 30 November to 14 December 2024. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a slasher show that runs from 1 to 8 February 2025. The hit show STOMP sees performers transform everyday objects into musical instruments in this unique show which will make its UAE debut from 29 to 31 May, 2025.

The highlights for Dubai Opera’s 2024-2025 season include French singer and songwriter, Carla Bruni, on 27 September; British singer, Sophie Ellis-Bexter, on 26 October; and R&B duo, Majid Jordan, on 22 November. Plus, Umm Kulthum & The Golden Era from 12 to 13 October; The Kingdom Choir on 28 October; and Hans Zimmer from 4 to 5 January 2025.

Paolo Petrocelli, Head of Dubai Opera, explained: “Following a record-breaking 2023 to 24 season, we look forward to once again catering to the entire community and beyond, with a mix of genre-spanning, dynamic and renowned performances. From pop to opera, classical ballet to contemporary rhythms, jazz and musicals to symphony, rock music to international folk, and contemporary circus, film and chamber music festivals, this season we will explore performing arts as a crossroads of sounds, languages and cultures.”
