Clap is the largest rooftop restaurant, bar and lounge in Dubai International Financial Centre.
With a menu of Japanese cuisine that skillfully combines ingredients and techniques, visitors to the new hotspot can expect a venue inspired by traditional Japanese culture while remaining contemporary in design, menu and vision.
Precision and pleasure lie at the heart of Clap’s dishes. The à la carte menu ranges from smaller plates, such as black cod bites, to indulgent mains like the Japanese Wagyu beef stone bowl. For those preferring a full dining experience, there is the option to try the Omakase menu, the Japanese translation being ‘I leave it up to you’.
Among the 141 dishes, some of the most notable include the salmon ‘Clap cloud’ – a salmon tartare with spicy miso and poppadum – yellowtail sashimi with tosazu dressing and Wagyu beef and foie gras gyoza. Clap also features a vegetarian and vegan-friendly menu with cold and hot starters, signature mains, rolls, nigiri and makis, as well as a selection of grills from Clap’s very own Josper oven.
Founded in Beirut, Clap brings its dedicated following of diners, outstanding food and a definite vibe in equal measure. The indoor restaurant, outdoor terrace and two lounge bars comfortably accommodate 300 guests, all while creating a buzzing atmosphere. Setting the tone is an eclectic chandelier, consisting of 2,100 toys hanging high in the restaurant’s reception and the bar. It’s the juxtaposition of these modern, bold design elements against the natural woods and solid stone used across the kitchen, seating and flooring that creates a vibrant place to eat, drink and socialise.
In true Japanese style, every inch is carefully considered, from the trickling water feature, a suspended toy conveyor belt over the bar and music curated by DJ Hisham Kfoury and renowned Dubai DJ Frederick Stone.
“The place is magical really”, says CEO Tony Habre, “there’s always something moving. 25 to 30 chefs will be cooking in front of you, the bar area is vast and there’s so much interaction happening between all of the staff and the guests dining. People are always looking for outstanding food but I think now more than ever they’re also looking for an exceptional experience. Fun is the keyword here.”
Brunches and lunches will be available as of early January 2021.
