Enjoy super saxes – the concert takes place on 9 June.

If you love the sound of the eighties, then you’ll be excited to hear that the British band Simply Red are coming to Coca-Cola Arena Dubai. Taking place on 9 June, the performance is part of a line-up for the first-ever World Padel League, which runs from 8 to 11 June.

Simply Red formed in Manchester back in 1985. The group’s lead singer, Mick Hucknall, was originally part of the punk group, The Frantic Elevators. He then joined a new group that went through the names Just Red, Red and the Dancing Dead, and World Service – but later chose Simply Red. The name is inspired by the colour of Mick’s hair and his love of the football team, Manchester United.

Over their career, Simply Red have had 10 songs reach the top 10 in the UK Singles Chart. The songs Holding Back the Years and If You Don’t Know Me by Now hit the number one spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. We’re expecting them to play their hits songs, ranging from Money Too Tight (To Mention) to Stars. Plus, a lot of 80s-esque saxophone action.

The band’s line has changed over the years. The most famous face is the lead singer and songwriter, Mick. The current members include Ian Kirkham on saxophone and keyboards; Steve Lewinson on bass; Kenji Suzuki on guitars; Kevin Robinson on trumpets and flugelhorn; and Roman Roth on drums.

Simply Red are no strangers to the UAE, as the group previously performed in Dubai 20 years ago. If you want to see Simply Red in Dubai, tickets are available now and start from AED 199.
