Dance the night away at the Boney M Experience in Abu Dhabi and Dubai

Enjoy 70s hits including Daddy Cool, Rasputin and Sunny. 

UAE, we have some groovy news. Sheyla Bonnick’s seventies disco-inspired Boney M Experience is bringing a mix of funk and soul to Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The concerts are coming to Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental Hotel on 7 October, and Dubai’s Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Beach on 6 October. 

Boney M was initially made up of Marcia Barrett, Bobby Farrell, Liz Mitchell and Maizie Williams. Formed in 1976, they topped the charts with the songs Daddy Cool, Rivers of Babylon and Sunny. One of their biggest hits is Rasputin, an unlikely ode to Grigori Rasputin, the friend and advisor to Tsar Nicolas II of Russia. Plus, their hit Mary’s Boy Child / Oh My Lord was Christmas number one and topped the charts for four weeks. 

Over the years, Boney M’s line-up has changed. Sheyla Bonnick featured on the singles Baby Do Ya Wanna Bump and Sunny, and was later given a solo record deal. 

If you want to party the night away, then DJ Gail will end the night with disco classics from the Seventies and Eighties. The female MC and DJ has played in the UAE, and in clubs across the world including Germany, Singapore, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. 

If you love live music, there are cool concerts to look forward to in the UAE. American superstar Charlie Puth is coming to Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi on 1 October. Legendary rock band KISS will bring their End of the Road World Tour to Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena. British superstar Robbie Williams is performing at Etihad Arena on Wednesday, 18 October. Plus, British garage star Dizzee Rascal is coming to Emirates Golf Club on 28 October.
