Afrobeats sensation Omah Lay will open the new season at BLU Oasis

The star-studded launch takes place on 19 October.

BLU Oasis is opening for the new season in star-studded style. The Dubai desert resort re-launches on Saturday, 19 October, and is bringing headline acts. The lineup includes Afrobeats sensation Omah Lay and the “Princess of Amapiano,” Uncle Waffles.

Stanley Omah Didia, known professionally as Omah Lay, will headline the event. The Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer has taken the Afrobeats scene by storm. His debut single “Bad Influence” became a viral sensation, garnering millions of views on YouTube. He followed up this success with a string of hit singles, including “Holy Ghost,” “I’m A Mess,” “Moving” and “Attention,” a collaboration with Justin Bieber. His debut album, Boy Alone, was released in 2022. He will be joined on the night by South African-based DJ Uncle Waffles.

Uncle Waffles, whose real name is Lungelihle Zwane, is a DJ and record producer making waves in the amapiano scene. Her blend of deep house, amapiano, and afro-house has garnered her a massive following and critical acclaim, fueled by her viral TikTok videos showcasing her DJ skills and dance performances. Her debut single, “Tanzania,” topped the South African charts.

BLU Oasis was created by the same team behind BLU Dubai, which is famous for its celebrity shows. Recent acts include Busta Rhymes, Jason Derulo, Kanye West, M Huncho, and Trey Songz. Now, with the opening of BLU Oasis, it is expanding from clubs to hotels.

The venue boasts a large outdoor club, restaurants and a pool overlooking the desert. The pool area has a modern white and blue aesthetic where visitors can choose from beds in and by the pool, and seats and tables perfectly positioned in the pool. Plus, there are cabanas located on the outside with plunge pools.
