Dragonfly in Dubai: Japanese restaurant opens this week

The restaurant is located in The Lana Promenade.

Dubai, here’s a dining date for your diary. Dragonfly Dubai will open at The Lana Promenade by Dorchester Collection this week. Alexander Orlov and Reif Othman created the new venue, which combines Japanese flavours with Pan-Asian influence.

Dragonfly’s menu combines traditional Japanese flavours with innovative culinary techniques. The menu includes high-quality ingredients and showcases caviar, seafood and wagyu. The signature dishes include Bluefin Tuna Carpaccio with clementine ponzu, Salmon Tataki with Asian pesto, and Wagyu Tartare with truffle mayo.

Seafood dishes include Hokkaido Scallops with uni in a yuzu-miso sauce and Cristal bread topped with black caviar. There is also a selection of dim sums, nigiri, and sashimi. Desserts range from Matcha Molten Cake to Salted Caramel Gelato.

Dragonfly Dubai offers a day-to-night experience and brings together resident and guest DJs. The cocktail menu is inspired by the Seven Values of the Samurai, which pays homage to the moral code once followed by the samurai class. The drinks cover core values: Jin (merciful), Rei (respect), Gi (righteousness), Yu (courage), Makoto (honesty), Chugi (loyalty), and Meiyo (honour).

Dragonfly Dubai

Dragonfly boasts a dramatic dining experience. The space includes an eight-metre-high ceiling with Japanese vases and Kokeshi dolls. There is also a red glass bar, a wow-worthy dragonfly sculpture, and views of the Burj Khalifa.

Dragonfly Dubai is in good culinary company. The restaurants in The Lana – Dorchester Collection include two concepts run by the French Chef, Jean Imbert. Rivieria is a fine-dining Mediterranean restaurant, and High Society is a luxury poolside lounge.

The dining concepts also include the Basque restaurant, Jara by Martín Berasategui; the Parisian restaurant, Bonbon Café from chef Angelo Musa; open-air Veranda with tapas and international cuisine; and The Gallery with afternoon tea and pasties. Plus, Txakolina offers everything from Cuban cigars to vinyl records, and Bitter Honey is a bar located in the lobby.
