Located in Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, the restaurant has been created by RIKAS Hospitality Group.
Dubai, you’re in for a dining delight. The Cantonese restaurant and bar XU is now open. Located in Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, it showcases Chef Min Wei Lai’s South Asian flavours.
Located on the second floor, the sultry space includes a lounge by the open kitchen, a bar with banquettes, intimate tables and a secluded terrace. The décor celebrates the cool subcultures of China’s big cities. The space includes shades of red punctuated by potted plants with crimson-tiled walls, mirrored ceilings and neon lights.
XU’s menu showcases Cantonese specialities that include crispy lemongrass chicken, Asian-style buttermilk prawn, and charcoal-grilled Wagyu beef ribeye with spicy peanut sauce. Plus, mains range from plum-baked Chilean seabass to Canadian lobster.
RIKAS Hospitality Group was founded by Rizwan Kassim in Dubai, and has been creating award-winning concepts for more than ten years. The concepts include Chez Wam, La Cantine du Faubourg, Kyma Beach Dubai, Ninive, Mimi Kakushi, TAGOMAGO, and Twiggy.
Rizwan Kassim, co-founder of RIKAS Hospitality Group, explained: “We set out to create a truly unique restaurant with XU. Somewhere to escape to and leave the rest of the city behind, in an intriguing, intimate, sophisticated space, but with a sense of humour. I’m not just proud of the menu we’ve put together here, I also think there are so many stunning design details to take in: you could come back time and time again and notice something new each night. In fact, I challenge people to do so.”
