Located in Meydan, the restaurant showcases Emirati cuisine.
What do you know about Emirati cuisine? The restaurant, Gerbou, is set to change that. To mark the opening, it has launched an exclusive supper club, which is located in a villa in Meydan. So, if you want to visit a restaurant with a local touch, here’s what you need to know.
Gerbou Supper Club is a collaboration between Atelier House Hospitality and Tashkeel. The event brings together ten guests each evening and acts as a prelude to the restaurant opening, which will take place later in the year. The menu blends together traditional influences, and aims to celebrate Emirati culture.
Head Chef Ionel Catau has previously worked around the world and in MICHELIN Starred kitchens. Chef Sahar Parham joins the team and is behind the beautiful desserts and pastries. The pair draw their inspiration from traditional Emirati flavours and dishes, and add a modern twist.
Gerbou is an Arabic term, which translates to “welcome to our humble abode”. The restaurant is located in 1987 Nad Al Sheba Center Building. The designers have transformed the historical building, and preserved the Islamic features to create a grand setting for the restaurant.
Panchali Mahendra, CEO – Atelier House Hospitality, explained: “We are excited to introduce the Gerbou Supper club, a prelude to our vision for Gerbou, and we are eager to showcase a dining experience that stands as an ode to the rich Emirati and Arab hospitality and culinary culture.”
Bakhita Ghanim, Manager of Tashkeel, added: “Through Gerbou, Tashkeel proudly showcases designs from our Tanween by Tashkeel program alumnae, who infuse tradition with contemporary design to serve a modern person’s lifestyle and elevate the elegant dining experience, reflecting our vision of cultural evolution and development.”
Gerbou Supper Club takes place every weekend. The event starts from 8pm, and costs AED 450 per person.
