Located in Alserkal Avenue, it is a must for sushi lovers.

Dubai, it’s time to roll with it. The city has welcomed its first hand roll sushi bar, Kokoro. Located in Alserkal Avenue, the venue is a must for sushi aficionados. Currently in the soft opening phase, here’s what you need to know.

Kokoro originated in Houston, Texas, and was founded by chefs Daniel Lee and Patrick Pham. Running for more than eight years, the concept prides itself on offering innovative Japanese cuisine. The menu specialises in sushi and yakitori and blends contemporary flavours with traditional techniques.

Kokoro in Dubai is a cool and casual restaurant. The seating is on a first come, first served basis, and currently does not take reservations. The design is simple yet sleek, from the wooden door with a discreet logo to the floor-to-ceiling windows. Inside, there are potted plants, hanging lamps and neon signs.

If you want the full experience, we recommend grabbing a countertop seat and watching the chefs at work in the kitchen. While the plates are smartly laid out with chopsticks, each setting comes with a playful little toy, from a monkey to a duck.

Kokoro in Dubai’s menu boasts fresh fish and the options include Bluefin Tuna with pickled cucumber, Ikura, Janpachi, Madai, Salmon with white ponzu, Scallop with orange, Seaweed Salad, Shima Aji, and Uni. Plus, Avocado Hand Roll, Kai Hand Roll, Negi Toro Hand Roll, and Spicy Tuna Hand Roll.

Kokoro in Dubai is open from Wednesday to Sunday from midday to 10pm.
