Relocated to The Dubai EDITION, this venue captivates diners with its vibrant interiors, eclectic menu, and lively ambience.
Dubai is no stranger to luxurious dining experiences, and one that stands out is Masti Cocktails & Cuisine. Previously nestled in La Mer, this FACT award-winning restaurant made waves when it relocated to The Dubai EDITION last year, becoming a favourite among locals and tourists alike. Known for its vibrant interiors, eclectic menu, and lively atmosphere, Masti provides diners with a memorable meal.
As you enter Masti, the lively and colourful interiors immediately capture your attention. The decor celebrates India’s hues, featuring shades of green, turquoise, teal, orange, and pink. Dusty pink walls, mirrors, and rattan furnishings add to the lively atmosphere, creating a beautiful setting for brunch. The outdoor terrace, offering a stunning view of Downtown Dubai, bathes the space in natural light.
The focal point of Masti is undoubtedly its beautiful bar, adorned with a mosaic elephant, setting the tone for a delightful experience. Opting for the Saturday brunch, our journey began with a round of mocktails. The Pina Colada was refreshingly sweet, exuding a luxurious feel, transporting us to a tropical paradise. The Mum-Bay mocktail, inspired by the city of Mumbai, showcased vibrant red tones and a touch of purple flowers, creating a visually appealing concoction that hinted at the flavours of adventure to come.
The weekly brunch started with the Sundried Tomato Naanza, a plain dough bread that boasted a perfect balance of tangy sweetness. The Avocado Mango Pani Puri, a unique twist on the classic street food, surprised us with its creamy avocado mango filling, complemented by a zesty green chilli chutney. While the Masticious Nova on a bagel was refreshing, the Avocado Mango Pani Puri stole the spotlight with its explosive flavours.
Moving on to hot appetisers, the Chicken Tikka Gyoza surpassed expectations with its ideal blend of spice and a surprisingly sweet kick. The Pulled Lamb Tacos, featuring papri as a replacement for the usual taco shells, provided a delightful crunch and a generous filling, showcasing Masti’s commitment to reinventing familiar dishes with creative flair.
From the main course options, the Chingari Malai Prawns Curry, though good, lacked the distinct coconut flavour promised, leaving us yearning for a more pronounced coastal touch. However, the Saag Paneer Lasagna stole the show with its innovative fusion of traditional saag paneer and Italian flair. Creamy saag — a spinach-like green-leafy vegetable — cheese and the perfect balance of flavours made it a standout dish, blending two culinary worlds seamlessly.
Desserts at Masti offered a sweet finale. The Sticky Toffee Pudding with vanilla ice cream provided a classic touch, its rich toffee complemented by the velvety sweetness of the ice cream. For those less inclined towards sugary treats, exploring an alternative dessert might be a wise choice, as the sweetness in this combination can be slightly overwhelming. The Pistachio Rose Coconut Kulfi stole the limelight, not just for its vibrant presentation featuring chocolate tree branches but also for its unique flavour profile.
While Masti delivers an overall excellent dining experience, one drawback was the overpowering music. While we understand the need for a lively Saturday brunch experience, the volume reached uncomfortable levels, hindering conversations. Given the family-friendly atmosphere, toning down the music could ensure a more pleasant experience for all patrons, especially the little ones.
Indian-inspired Masti (translating to ‘fun and mischief’) Cocktails and Cuisine offers a vibrant and eclectic brunch experience, where each dish offers a modern twist on a comfort food classic.
