Dig into daring cocktails with fun flavours, from cheese to onion.
Dubai is home to some of the world’s most spectacular sunsets. High Society in The Lana, Dorchester Collection boasts one of them, thanks to its widescreen view of the city. Located on the 30th floor of the new luxury hotel, it is a blockbuster spot for sundowners. With the Burj Khalifa and creative cocktails in the spotlight, it offers a daring take on drinks.
High Society in The Lana is a sight to behold. So much so, we challenge you not to take a photo when you enter the rooftop. The view is best enjoyed at sunset, as you watch the sky going from bright blue to burnt orange. As night falls, you’ll have twinkling stars in your eyes and blankets on hand to keep you warm.
High Society in The Lana has mastered a minimalist and modern design. The contemporary chic look spans white furniture and tables, and the plush infinity pools are currently only open to in-house guests. The pretty plants add a touch of greenery, although some obstruct the view – so choose your seat wisely.
Jean Imbert is famous for his MICHELIN-starred restaurants, and has brought that magic to The Lana. He has opened two concepts at the hotel: High Society and Rivieria. If you want to make it a memorable evening, we would recommend starting with drinks at High Society followed by dinner at Rivieria. Although, we won’t judge you if you linger in the laidback luxury of High Society.
Paul-Marie Cras-Hatton, General Manager at High Society, explains: “High Society is a true destination – an innovative place with a playful, sophisticated menu that showcases remarkable Champagnes and creative signature cocktails. What else would you expect from Jean Imbert?”
When it comes to choosing from the signature cocktails, be prepared for the peculiar. The cocktail list is one of the more creative lists we have seen in Dubai. The unusual ingredients range from feta cheese to onion, and these are not so subtle – so bring the gum. The knowledgeable staff are on hand to help, and provide back stories as well as warnings for that onion-y drink.
The signature cocktails come with epic names, which are inspired by myths – Secret of Archipelago, anyone? The Qudrigo Sacrifice is sweet and powerful with mastiha and pear syrup. The Cleopatra’s Glow is floral and silky with cinnamon, hibiscus, oat milk, roasted red onion and vodka. Other grand options range from Apollo’s Talent with honey, cucumber and tequila to Father of Pharaohs with melon cordial, Champagne and Hennessy VS. Plus, the drinks list includes Champagne, white, red and rose wine, and healthy smoothies.
The bites span salads to sandwiches – The Crab Brioche and Avocado comes in four small pieces, and is designed for sharing. The decadent options include an oyster collection, caviar selection and the crudo bar with dishes ranging from Tuna Tartare to Sea Bass Carpaccio. Plus, the desserts range from Churros to Chocolate Chip Cookie Bowl.
Live the high life.
