The Italian concept first started in Chelsea in the 1980s.

The taste of Italy is coming to the UAE. The London-born Scalini is opening a casual offshoot in Dubai Mall, and it will be a relaxed yet refined concept. The café showcases Italian classics as well as coffees and cakes. So, if you’re looking for a new sophisticated spot, here’s what you need to know.

Scalini first opened in London, England in 1988. Located on Walton Street, Chelsea, it draws inspiration from Southern Italy. The restaurant prides itself on showcasing traditional Italian food with the finest ingredients, and cocktails rooted in the flavours from the country.

Scalini Cucina

The restaurant can trace its roots back to 1959, and La Trattoria Terrazza in Soho. It was at this location that the founders, Mario Paggetti and Valerio Calzolari, first met each other. Over the years, it has gained a firm following and welcomed celebrity guests.

Scalini restaurants can now be found worldwide, with locations in Four Seasons Jumeirah Restaurant Village in Dubai and Marriott Marquis Doha in Qatar. There are also locations in Bahrain, Cairo, Cannes, and Istanbul.
