The new restaurant puts caviar across its dishes and drinks.
Dubai loves luxurious ingredients ranging from truffle to gold leaf, so it’s no surprise to find that a caviar bar has opened in the city. Ikra Caviar Bar is located on Bluewaters Island, and is a sophisticated spot that celebrates the sought-after ingredient. So, if you want a classy night out, here’s what you need to know.
Ikra Caviar Bar boasts a minimalist, monochrome aesthetic, from white tablecloths to plush grey seats. A black and white motif can be found across the entrance, walls and tiles on the floor. Look out for the Art Deco touches across the bar, such as curved gold mirrors and gold-rimmed chandeliers. Plus, there is a statement chandelier undulating into the space, which draws its inspiration from nature’s fauna as well as the sea.
The restaurant has an extensive menu that puts caviar in the spotlight. The dishes include Beef Chop Chop with black caviar, Gillardeau Oyster No 2 with black caviar, and Gratin with sour scream and (you guessed it) black caviar. Plus, other dishes include Homemade Dumplings with crab, shrimp and tobiko, Tirimasu Caviar Dream, Tuna Salad, and Zucchini with Crab.
Watch the mixologists work their magic, as the drinks are served with theatrics – dry ice, anyone? The decadent beverages include Beluga, Hackelback and Salmon cocktails, and many of them come topped with caviar.
If you thought caviar was only for the privileged, think again. Millennials and Gen Z are all over caviar in Dubai, and #caviarbumps are trending. This is the act of taking caviar by the dollop and putting it onto the back of your hand, rather than a traditional mother of pearl spoon. Put the caviar on your tongue, push it to the top of your palate and – boom – the flavours explode.
Ikra Caviar Bar is open from Monday to Thursday from 10am to midnight, and from Friday to Sunday from 10am to 3am.
