Get ready to indulge at the new all-you-can-play hotel.
When people around the world think of Dubai, chances are FIVE Hotels & Resorts comes strutting into their minds. The brand is so connected with the city, it is a byword for Insta-worthy, celebrity-filled parties. During our visit to the brand’s latest luxury hotel opening, FIVE LUXE JBR, we had fabulous fun alongside fine dining and finesse.
FIVE Hotels & Resorts’ hotels in Dubai include FIVE Palm Jumeirah and FIVE Jumeirah Village. Located in JBR, FIVE LUXE JBR feels like a relaxed yet refined entry point to the brand. At every time of the day, the lavish lobby was buzzing with an electric energy. While the hotel could feel like a scene out of Love Island, the design was timeless and tasteful, and the staff were polite and professional.
Come for the all-you-can-play parties, and stay for the classy cuisine and cocktails.
Rooms and suites
FIVE LUXE JBR spans 222 rooms as well as suites, and 222 residences. The rooms combine elegance with extravagance – picture duplexes, hot tubs, steam rooms, and blockbuster views of the Arabian Gulf or Palm Jumeirah (which are perfect for posing). Prepare to party – rooms face Playa Pacha and a spectacular-sized screen, and DJs at the main pool can be heard from the rooms.
We checked into Generous One Bedroom Suite, which spans 129 square metres and can accommodate up to three people. Don’t expect Las Vegas-inspired bling bling and kitsch décor. The rooms are smart and sophisticated with golden accents, shiny marbles and wooden materials. And, minimalist and muted tones of beige and browns are punctuated by pink cushions and green chairs.
On arrival, we received a personalised magazine cover in chocolate. The king-size bed comes with a pillow menu and helpful hand-sized versions so you can find the perfect match. The bathroom is a sleek spot, from the rainfall shower to the tub with a TV. And, if you want an afterparty, continue it on the terrific terrace with sun loungers and seats.
Restaurants and bars
FIVE LUXE JBR is home to world-class concepts, from award-winning bars to celebrity chefs. At the heart of the hotel is the all-day dining restaurant, Cielo. In Italian, it translates to heaven, which is fitting for the dreamy destination. The venue boasts indoor and outdoor seats, which overlook the spectacular seafront. The breakfast buffet spans bitesize pastries, hot and cold classics, and a brunch-worthy chocolate fountain. Plus, there is a dedicated eggs menu.
Ronin offers an innovative take on Japanese food. Celebrity chef Sin Keun Choi is behind the concept, which brings together fun and fine dining. The menu spans starters, small plates, robata grill, sushi, sides and desserts. If you’re after theatrics, watch the sky-high flames in the kitchen and order the fruit platter with dry ice.
When a concept hits number on The World’s 50 Best Bars, you know it means business. Paradiso is worth visiting in its own right. The original bar is located in Barcelona, and the new bar attracts a cool crowd. On our visit, we bumped into people we knew and Dubai’s DJ Bliss was on the decks.
Goose Island Tap House was an after-work hotspot. The venue gives the sports bar an upgrade, and offers an elevated pub and drinks menu. Other restaurants include French bistro, Tête à Tête; and the pool and beach club, Playa Pacha.
Facilities
FIVE LUXE JBR’s ReFIVE Spa is a world of wellness, and offers treatments for the mind, body and soul. So many spas are located in a basement and lack light, but this is bright and beautiful. Located across the fifth and sixth floors, it brings together treatment rooms, an indoor pool, rooftop terrace, outdoor terrace and 24/7 gym. Treatments include facials, massages, and a hammam experience.
Dance and dream the night away.
