The venue will be located in Maison de la Plage on Palm West Beach.

Dubai is home to world-class nightlife concepts. Now, it is set to welcome La Sombra which will be hidden inside Maison de la Plage. Located on Palm West Beach, the secret speakeasy has been created by the dining dream team of Chef Izu Ani and Evgeny Kuzin. The opening date has not been confirmed for 29 November, and here’s what we do know.

Fundamental Hospitality is behind Alaya, La Maison Ani, Shanghai Me and the FACT award-winning Gaia. If the group’s previous concepts are anything to go by, Dubai is in for a treat. La Sombra will be located in Maison de la Plage, a love letter to the French Riviera. In Spanish, the name translates to dark and shadow. Plus, the location boasts views of the sun, sea, and sand.

Inspired by a journey through Africa and the soulful rhythms of Latin culture, La Sombra captures the passion of Tango, the sultry allure of film noir, and the nostalgic revival of vinyl records.

Palm Jumeirah’s first speakeasy offers an environment reminiscent of the 1940s and 50s, where French sophistication intertwines with the modern beats of house, jazz, and Latin music, creating an ambience of seductive elegance and timeless allure.

La Sombra

Hidden away, this secret club boasts interiors that feature rich woods, soft lighting, and lush botanical accents. At the heart of La Sombra lies its crafted cocktail menu, featuring drinks like Nostalgia, a fireside blend of whiskey, chestnut, and chocolate bitters.

The Cote d’Azur might be 6,400 kilometres away from the UAE, but Maison de la Plage makes it feel a little closer. Opened in February 2023, the space boasts day beds, cabanas, a pool with a bridge and a restaurant. Signature dishes on the menu include the Izu Burger, Grilled Octopus, Lobster Linguine, Marinated Lamb Cutlets and Snails with butter and anchovies.

Fundamental Hospitality is behind a range of restaurants. The upcoming restaurants also include Shanghai Me and Bund Lounge London, which will be located on the 28th floor of London Hilton Park Lane. In Dubai, the new restaurants include the African restaurant INÁ and the recently opened Adaline.

Alaya has LY-LA, Gaia has Nyx, and Shanghai Me has Bund Lounge. Now Maison de la Plage has its own hidden nightlife haunt.
