The venue will be located in Maison de la Plage on Palm West Beach.
Dubai is home to world-class nightlife concepts. Now, it is set to welcome La Sombra which will be hidden inside Maison de la Plage. Located on Palm West Beach, it has been created by the dining dream team, Chef Izu Ani and Evgeny Kuzin. The opening date has not yet been confirmed, but here’s what we do know.
Fundamental Hospiality is behind Alaya restaurant. If the group’s previous concepts are anything to by, Dubai is in for a treat. So far, we know that La Sombra will be located in Maison de la Plage, which is a love letter to the French Riviera. In Spanish, the name translates to dark and shadow. Plus, the location boasts views of the sun, sea and sand.
The Cote d’Azur might be 6,400 kilometres away from the UAE, but Maison de la Plage makes it feel a little closer. Opened in February 2023, the space boasts day beds, cabanas, a pool with a bridge and a restaurant. Signature dishes on the menu include the Izu Burger, Grilled Octopus, Lobster Linguine, Marinated Lamb Cutlets and Snails with butter and anchovies.
The concept comes to Dubai from Chef Izu Ani and Evgeny Kuzin. The dynamic duo are behind Alaya restaurant and the FACT Award-winning GAIA. Chef Izu was born in Nigeria, raised in London and now lives in Dubai. His London restaurants include GAIA London and La Maison Ani London.
Fundamental Hospitality is behind a range of restaurants. The upcoming restaurants also include Shanghai Me and Bund Lounge London, which will be located on the 28th floor of London Hilton Park Lane. Plus, in Dubai, the new restaurants include the African restaurant INA and the nightlife destination La Sombra at Maison de la Plage.
Alaya has LY-LA, Gaia has Nyx, and Shanghai Me has Bund Lounge. Now Maison de la Plage has its own hidden nightlife haunt.
