The Japanese-inspired venue includes an omakase menu.
Dubai, we want to share a secret. The hidden bar Himitsu has opened in Alba restaurant in Downtown Dubai, and it is a sultry speakeasy. Located near Dubai Opera, it offers a fitting theatrical addition to your night out. So, if you’re looking for a destination with a difference, here’s what you need to know.
Himitsu’s tag line claims: “Open only for those who seek”. In Japanese, the name means secret and private. The bar is hidden behind a big white door and red velvet curtain. As you walk down the dark corridor, the venue is dimly lit with red hot hues.
The design draws inspiration from Japanese art, from the walls with floral murals to the dishes painted with Hokusai’s The Great Wave Of Kanagawa. Guests can choose from curved banquettes to seats by the bar and sit on high stools to watch the marvellous mixology.
Himitsu specialises in creating one-of-a-kind experiences. The expert mixologists can make 1,200 different drink combinations. The food offering includes an omakase menu. Dishes include a Beef Tataki, Langoustine Chawanmushi, and Snickers made with miso.
Himitsu is located in Alba, which has been created by the hospitality group MetaFoodies Restaurants Management. Alba combines Pan-Asian cuisine with European flair. The dishes are inspired by Eastern and Asian influences, from the 19th century to modern day street food.
Himitsu is open from Thursday to Sunday from 7pm until late. Guests must reserve and bookings are taken through Instagram.
