Celebrities, cosplay and comics – here’s what to expect from the event.
Comic book fans, assemble. PopCon Middle East is returning to Dubai from 2 to 4 February, showcasing the best games, films, TV and anime. Plus, in true comic book style, there’ll be cosplay. Lots of cosplay.
Taking place in Skydive Dubai this year’s event will include workshops, movie screenings and meet and greets with celebrities. PopConMe 2024 boasts an impressive array of celebrities. Attendees will have the chance to meet Alaqua Cox, who plays Maya Lopez in Marvel’s Hawkeye and the new hit series Echo. Turkish actor Nurettin Sonmez, known for his legendary portrayal of Bamsi Beyrek in Netflix’s Dirilis Ertugrul series, will also grace the occasion. Joining them are Peter Gadiot from the live-action hit series One Peace, Manu Bennett, famous for his roles as Deathstroke and Crixus in Spartacus, Aryan Simhadri from Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Lexi Rabe from Avengers: Endgame.
Adding an international flavour, Chinese actor Zhenwei Wan from The Karate Kid and Bollywood singer and actress Iulia Vantur will also be in attendance. The event features renowned Japanese voice actors and singers, including Romi Park from Attack on Titan and Fullmetal Alchemist, Akaya Komatsu from Sailor Moon, and Chisa Yokoyama, the voice of Chun Li from Street Fighter and Biscuit Krueger from Hunter x Hunter. Live performances by Takayoshi Tanimoto from Dragon Ball Kai and Yumi Matsuzawa add a musical touch to the event.
PopConMe also provides a unique opportunity to meet the artists who breathe life into beloved heroes and villains. Adam Polina, Mike Krome, Eranga D, Mostafa Moussa, Christian Duce, and Jesse Simon will be present to share insights into their creative process. It’s a chance to step into the world of these masterminds and witness firsthand the magic behind the illustrations that have captured our imaginations.
Other than that, gaming zones and competitions, including Dungeons & Dragons and Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh Card competitions, will keep gamers entertained. Wrestling enthusiasts can catch a live performance from the wrestlers of DXB Wrestle Fest. Creative workshops will allow attendees to explore and enhance their artistic skills, while the marketplace is where you can find new comics, anime collectibles, and much more
